low fat buttermilk

PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese
or light cream cheese

confectioners sugar

ground cinnamon

vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Whisk together the flour, cinnamon, ginger and baking soda in a bowl and hold aside.
In a larger bowl, with an electric mixer combine the applesauce, buttermilk, sugar, molasses and egg.
Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and continue to mix until well combined.
Pour the mixture into a prepared 8” square pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cake is set in the center. Remove from the oven an allow to cool completely.
With an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese, margarine, confectioners sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Spread the frosting on top of the cooled cake before serving.
