Show Stress Who’s Boss
Keeping up with deadlines, schedules, and everything else life throws at you can be stressful—and too much stress can contribute to high blood pressure, sleep problems, reduced immune response, and more. Taking 15-minute breaks occasionally during the day can help make a difference. Here are three ways you can TAKE15 to prioritize your wellbeing.
Stretch It Out
Stress tends to land in our shoulders and back so a good neck or lower back stretch can help ease tension while being an effective stress reliever. If you’re not sure the proper way to stretch, there are countless video tutorials online. Stretching can help your body, clear your mind, and improve focus. It’s easy, free, and best of all, effective!
Take a Coffee Break
Or a tea break. Or a cucumber-infused water break. Sip solo or with a friend. The point is, when you’re feeling overwhelmed, it helps to get away from the task at hand even for a little while. Just be careful not to overdo it on the caffeine, which could make you feel even more anxious.
Take Deep Breaths
Stop and take a few minutes to really breathe! Deep breaths and meditation can help reduce stress levels and just make you feel better. Find a comfy place to sit, close your eyes, slowly inhale, and exhale until you feel your breathing slow down and get deeper.
Note: Since everyone’s health history and nutritional needs are so different, please make sure that you talk with your doctor and a registered dietitian to get advice about the diet and exercise plan that‘s right for you.
