Keep the Fun Going—Safely
Warmer weather means more fun outside activities like backyard barbecues, swimming, hiking, and much more.
Often, though, these summer activities are prime settings for summer mishaps and accidents that can be prevented. Here are a few safety tips and resources to help you keep the fun going all season long.
The Right Stuff
Staying active keeps your body and mind strong all year round. But sometimes you need the right equipment to stay safe. Get helmets and knee pads for biking, boarding, and blading. Life vests or floats for boating and swimming. And bright, reflective gear when walking, running, or biking on the road (day or night).
Grill Safety Is Hot
This is the time of year to flex your grilling muscles! But it’s also a good time to remember a few safety tips. Place the grill away from your home, deck, or other wooden structures and make sure it’s on a flat, level surface to reduce chances of tipping. Also, near the grill action, watch long sleeves or apron strings that might catch fire.
Keep the Party Going
It’s the season of picnics, backyard BBQs, block parties, and al fresco dining. It’s also a great time to brush up on kitchen and food safety. Safety expert Jaymin Patel dishes up some safety basics on this episode of the Five Minutes to Feed Your Potential podcast.
